I’ve never made new year’s resolutions, but last year my sister showed me her diary planning for the year ahead (2019) I love it. I really loved how she had gone through magazines and cut out phrases and words that would inspire her, so she would not lose track of her goals and aspirations. It was almost like a vision board but better because in her diary she already had things added dates in it for things she had planned (events, trips, training classes, etc.) and others that she hoped to hope to do.

So, I took her lead. Bought a diary and started thinking about what I wanted to do in the next and goals that I hoped accomplish. I planned and booked weekend get aways for my husband and I to help us make it through the cold winter, remodeling plans for our flat, and highlighting holidays and key events to make them that much more special and meaningful.

Looking back

In the end my diary ended up being a scrap book of all the things my husband and I had done in 2019. There were art exhibition tickets, plays and musicals we had gone to, weekend getaways and remodeling our flat, the list goes on and on.

Looking back on 2019, it was a good year and I accomplished a lot things both professionally and personally but the most difficult challenge I encountered was in my career. I am grateful that I have had a job that gave me and my husband beautiful experiences, allowed us to visit amazing places, meet lovely people, and allowed us to realise plans in our home.

Looking ahead

For 2020, I resolve to not allow my current role to disappoint me or allow me to lose sight of who I am. Nor will I allow it to let me lose sight of my ultimate goal — to have a career in the world of art and or design. I will smile at strangers and remember that life is beautiful and everyday truly is a blessing.

What will you resolve to do in 2020?
